Isles survive as Stars' last-second goal is overturned

Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Bo Horvat and Kyle Palmieri scored the go-ahead and game-winning goals in the third period Tuesday night for the visiting New York Islanders, who survived a chaotic late rally by the Dallas Stars to earn a 3-2 victory.
Calum Ritchie scored in the second for the Islanders, who improved to 5-1-0 on a seven-game road trip. Palmieri finished with two points, and goalie David Rittich made 22 saves.
Jason Robertson scored both goals for the Stars on assists from Tyler Seguin, including a 6-on-5 tally with 1:59 left. However, Robertson cost Dallas the game-tying goal by Wyatt Johnston with one-tenth of a second left when it was ruled on review that Robertson interfered with Rittich.
Robertson darted into the crease with Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock in pursuit and collided with Rittich just before Johnston pounced on the rebound of Miro Heiskanen's shot.
The Stars were skating 5-on-6 because Mikko Rantanen drew a boarding penalty and a game misconduct with 27.3 seconds left after he delivered a hard hit that sent a crouched Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov hurtling head-first into the back boards. Romanov was helped off the ice.
The Islanders played the final 13:12 without Horvat, who was given a double-minor penalty for high sticking on Oskar Back and drew an additional 10-minute misconduct.
Jake Oettinger recorded 19 saves for the Stars, whose five-game winning streak ended.
Following a scoreless first period, Ritchie and Robertson exchanged goals during a span of 1:55 shortly beyond the midway point of the second.
Horvat scored the go-ahead goal in unusual fashion 3:12 into the third. Emil Heineman's pass glanced off Palmieri's stick and off the back boards to Oettinger, who tried but failed to cover up the puck. Horvat swooped into the slot and shoveled a shot between Oettinger's legs.
Palmieri scored an unassisted short-handed goal 50 seconds after Horvat's exit. He picked up a loose puck in the Stars' zone, raced up the ice, faked a pass to Casey Cizikas and fired a shot under Oettinger's stick.
Robertson began the comeback attempt by scoring at 18:01 of the final period, his second of the night and his eighth goal in the past four games.
